The Threadless Path
The gods borrowed her soul, and she became the consequence.
Forged from the earth and bound to a single law, Kaelith was
created to restore balance to a failing world. She must never love.
No friendship. No loyalty. No desire. Love would undo the very
thing she was made to preserve.
Raised in the shadow of the temple city of Siedral, she learns
to hide what sets her apart. Life speaks to her. Pain moves through
her. The wild does not fear her. She expects nothing from the
world she was placed in and gives even less in return.
Until the iron post.
One act of mercy binds her to two boys who refuse to remain
strangers. What begins as something small takes hold, deepening
into a connection she was never meant to form. She tells herself it
is temporary. That they are only means to an end. But the bond
does not fade.
And the world begins to fracture with it.
As kingdoms rot and something unseen tightens its hold on
the living, the balance Kaelith was created to protect begins to feel
less like harmony and more like control. Loss follows. Faith
breaks. What is taken from her does not return.
Still, she is forbidden to love.
As the truth of the gods unravels and something ancient stirs
beneath the world, Kaelith must decide what she will become.
The balance they demanded of her.
Or something they never anticipated.
